Testing

It is much easier and certainly more cost effective to use a variation on an earlier testing instrument, rather than to create your own. Most consultant firms will choose a simple test that is easy to handle. There are test instruments out there that determine management style by answering a questionnaire of fewer than twenty-five items. They employ a standard template to test for management; skills, style, philosophy, etc. These instruments are designed by people who have a pre-determined generic ideal in mind. One size fits all. Shouldn’t the organization be working with the consultant to determine what it is that they are looking for prior to any testing instrument being used?

Each organization and each situation has a distinctive blend of characteristics that sets that organization apart from all others. The key is to come up with test or survey instruments that reflect the individual characteristics of that organization. It takes time to put specifically designed instruments together. The organizations we work with want that uniqueness in what it is they are trying to accomplish.
